The Israel Football Association was founded in 1928 and stands at the top of the football pyramid in the country. Close to one thousand teams of children, youth, adults and women comprise approximately 40 thousand players who take part throughout the year in all competitions operated by the Association, including leagues, the State Cup and the Toto Cup.

The Association organizes all league and State Cup matches and operates the disciplinary courts. Within its framework, the Referees Union operates as an independent body and serves as the driving force behind the management of hundreds of matches each week. The highlight of the Israel Football Association since its inception has always been the operation of the national teams: boys and youth teams, the under-21 team, the senior national team, girls teams and women’s national teams, all of which maintain year-round activity. Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa is classified by the Association as a stadium approved for Premier League matches. The Stadium hosts league matches, State Cup matches and matches of the Israel National Team as part of European competitions.
